What is Soft Re-set and Hard Reset of Mobile Phone
A Soft-reset - the process of resetting all the settings of the phone to the factory default! No applications are deleted!
A Hard-reset is like formatting a drive! It does format the memory. Everything that has been installed after the first use of the phone is deleted! It will recover the memory of the phone to the state you purchased it! It is done by inputing the following code: *#7370# NOTE: The battery must be full or the charger has to be connected to the phone so that it does not run out of power and make the phone unusable.
How to totally format your Nokia 3650 and remove all installed applications, user files and restore all
settings to default like it's new out of the box? (OEM apps won't be deleted like Camera and RealOne Player).

How to increase life of your mobile Phone Battery Life
Prevent the Memory Effect - Keep the battery healthy by fully charging and then fully discharging it at least once every two to three weeks. Exceptions to the rule are Li-Ion batteries, which do not suffer from the memory effect. Do not leave the battery dormant for long periods of time.
Always use a battery charger, which is by the same manufacturer as your phone, it gives it more life. It also helps if you overcharge your battery now and then.
Keep the Batteries Clean - It's a good idea to clean dirty battery contacts with a cotton swab and alcohol. This helps maintain a good connection between the battery and the portable device.
Do not leave your cell phone near any source of heat, a common place being the dashboard of your car, as extreme heat may affect the battery. The battery also operates better at room temperature, vis-à-vis extreme cold.
The vibrator mode of your cell phone consumes more battery, so when not needed, use the ring-tone mode.
Battery Storage - If you don't plan on using the battery for a month or more, store it in a clean, dry, cool place away from heat and metal objects. Batteries tend to de-charge when not in use, so make sure you charge them again before using. The performance of any cell phone battery, however, no matter how properly cared for, usually diminishes after about a year. It is better to get your battery replaced then.

What Happens When You Recycle Old Mobile Phones?
Around 14 million mobile phones are discarded every year in the UK, and as new models continue to be released that number is sure to grow, so what should you do when you have an old mobile phone to get rid of?
First of all you need to understand what's inside your phone and the risks of not disposing of it correctly. The circuit boards in old phones can contain arsenic in the chips and bromine based fire retardants, these chemicals are extremely toxic. The screens on older phones often contain mercury, and the plastic casing can contain the same fire retardants as the circuit boards. The most hazardous part is usually the battery, depending on the model it will either be a Nickel-Cadmium or Lithium Ion battery. Cadmium is a highly toxic heavy metal, it is especially harmful to marine life and is bio cumulative, which means it builds up in the food chain and can go on causing harm to the environment for many years.

Camera cell phones are allowing citizens to monitor, record behavior of law enforcement personnel
Cell phone cameras used to be toys for affluent teens and gadget hounds but have now become the standard fare of all cell phone-toting citizens -- and they are now becoming a powerful community tool in the debate about police conduct.
Some Los Angeles political groups are starting to train citizens to use cameras, video cell phones and Internet sites like YouTube to get their voices and pictures heard like never before.
Sherman Austin, founder of Cop Watch L.A., said, "We urge everyone to have a camera on them at all times so if anything happens it can be documented. The concept of patrolling the police is something we are trying to push as a form of direct action."

Hands Free Cell Phone Use Shown to Disorient Drivers
Research is slowly but surely revealing that the use of cell phones is dangerous and may play a large role in the modern day increase in cancer as well as brain diseases such as Alzheimer's. Certain US States and European countries have banned or are planning to ban the use of cell phones while driving. Now research shows that even hands free phones can affect drivers.
England has already banned the use of handsets while driving, and is set to take further action to ban the use of hands free cell phones. Government research has discovered that any cell phone use, including hands free, causes a disorientation which may increase the risk of accidents. This disorientation can last up to 10 minutes after the phone call is finished.

Mobile Phones With a Touchscreen
If you are still using a mobile with a traditional keypad, it might be time to start looking into mobile phones with a touchscreen, as they are certainly more convenient and will allow you to navigate around your phone a lot easier. If you are worried that you will touch the wrong icon, or that you will get lost flipping from page to page, there is no need to be. Although it may take you a little while to get used to it, it won't be long before you are touching your way through everything, including your social networking sites, calling and messaging features and your favourite games and applications.
There are now many mobile models available in the touchscreen range, and it is simply a matter of looking around to find one that you feel will be suitable for you. You will need to choose a model that makes it easier to complete the tasks you need and this can be achieved by first looking at the size of the screen, the ability to personalise the start up page, email and messaging capabilities, the ease of access to social networking sites, or perhaps the photographic capabilities and Megapixel range. It is up to you to decide what your individual needs are, but when you do, you will be in a better position to find the touchscreen phone for you. It could even be a good idea to create a list of the specific features you know you cannot live without and you can use this list when you are searching through the various mobile phones with a touchscreen.

How to free More RAM on your mobile phone
Method 1: Flight mode:
Put your phone in "Flight mode" with Psiloc System Tools. Install System Tools, open it and select "Flight mode". This way you can restart the phone without your SIM card so there will be no running phone tasks in the background. Now you can have up to 3,5 MB of free RAM!
Note: ironically enough, Flight mode doesn't work when Smart Launcher is installed, at least in my case. But i've also heard several reports of people who have both apps running without any problems.

Cell Phones Cause Brain Cancer, Scientists Warn!
A report issued by the International Electromagnetic Field Collaborative and endorsed by 43 scientists from 13 countries has reviewed the evidence linking cell phone use to brain tumors, and refuting the methodology of a forthcoming industry-funded study expected to give the phones a clean bill of health.
"I fear we will see a tsunami of brain tumors, although it is too early to see that now since the tumors have a 30-year latency," study author Lloyd Morgan said. "I pray I'm wrong, but brace yourself."
Among the research cited in the study was a recent study by a Swedish team of scientists that found a 420 percent higher risk of brain cancer among people who had started using cellular or cordless phones as teenagers. Older analog phones, which are now mostly off the market, had been found to increase cancer risk by 700 percent.

How to Disable stolen Mobile phone
Simply write down on your mobile phone following code.
To check your Mobile Phone's Serial number, key in the following digits on your phone:All mobile phone users should keep a note of their handset's serial number (known as the 'IMEI'), as it's very handy if the phone is lost or stolen. The number can normally be found under the battery (looking something like 004400/01/123456/7).

* # 0 6 #
A 15 digit code will appear on the screen after pressing send button, or in some phones it comes automatically just by writing above given code. . This Number is unique to your Handset. Write it down and keep it somewhere safe. Should your phone get stolen, you can phone your service provider and give them this code. You probably won't get your phone back, but at least you know that whoever stole it can't use/sell it either. If everybody does this, there would be no point in people stealing mobile phones

When to Take the Plunge for Refurbished Cell Phones
Sometimes what’s old and used breeds new appeal to lovers of all things vintage. The concept of buying used cell phones and refurbished cell phones, though, can either fit you like a glass slipper or evoke unfulfilled feelings of not being hip to the most bleeding-edge whizbang.
Because it’s standard practice today for cell phone carriers to guarantee their products with 30-day return policies with no questions asked, by law they can’t classify a phone as “new” if it’s returned for any reason in that time window. This category of used phones is often coined “buyer’s remorse”.
So when’s it right for you to revive someone else’s previously new cell phone and make it your own refurbished cell phone? When’s it wrong?
What warnings should you heed when making the old-phone plunge? Where should you look to buy one? This is your guide to these questions.

Links between cell phones and brain tumors
A growing body of evidence, dating back to the 1960s, suggests that brain tumors may be only one of the many health problems produced by our new wireless society will produce.
Cell-phone technology "could lead to a health crisis similar to those caused by asbestos, smoking, and lead in petrol," warned the European Union's environmental watchdog agency in 2007.
The most ambitious attempt to catalogue the health risks of cell phones to date is the industry-funded Interphone study, carried out by researchers from 13 different countries (not including the United States). Although the study has been criticized for selecting data in a way designed to play down the risks of cell phone use, it continues to turn up alarming findings nonetheless. Among the findings so far are a 40 percent increase in brain tumor risk among adults who use a cell phone for 10 years (especially on the side of the head where the phone is held); a 300 percent increased risk of acoustic nerve tumors; and an increased risk of tumors of the parotid gland. The risk of a brain tumor increases by 400 percent in people who start using a cell phone before the age of 20.

Mobile Security: Can You Trust Your Bank Account to Your Phone’s Mobile Web?
These days, consumers are well aware of the software landmines that lay waiting to infect our desktop computers and laptops.
The concept of mobile security and that the same computer viruses can infect our mobile phones, though, isn’t one that crosses our minds nearly as often.
As cell phones continue to find ways to become more and more useful, so are they increasingly competing with the functionality of the everyday computer.
Just as many of us are comfortable transacting money online, for example, cell phones are inching into the same space in the form of mobile banking.

Cell Phone Radiation: Safety Ratings on 1,000 Cell Phones
The T-Mobile myTouch 3G with Google’s Android operating system, which competes fiercely against the iPhone 3G S for AT&T and Palm Pre for Sprint, has the second-highest cell phone radiation level of any handset in a new, easy-to-digest consumer guide of 1,000 cell phones and smartphones.
That begs the bigger question on the phone you’re using now or about to purchase: Are cell phones safe or do they cause cancer? It’s one of the oldest questions in the cell phone book for which we still don’t have a conclusive answer.
The good news is that researchers continue to churn out studies and burn through funding (and ask for more money) to get definitive answers.

Will Your Cell Phone Reach 911 in an Emergency?
If you're one of the millions of cell phone users who count on their wireless phone for emergency 911 calling........
You might want to think again.
Unfortunately, there's no guarantee that your 911 call will be routed to an emergency call center. Much less, the emergency dispatcher will have the ability to pinpoint the call's location.
Which Way Are Mobile Phone Games Heading?
Aside online games and static game devices like Playstation, mobile games are the next most popular games around now.
The popularity has grown so big that mobile operators are competing against each other by offering their subscribers loads of both free and paid games for their pleasure. Not only mobile operators, cell phone manufacturers are also pre-programming their phones with a variety of games.
Where Did Those Cell Phones Come From?
In 1949 the first car phone service was introduced. It was called “Mobile Telephone Service” (MTS). But the beginning of wireless communication started many years earlier, in 1895, when an Italian physicist named Guglielmo Marconi successfully sent wireless signals a distance of one and one half miles.
In 1896 Marconi was granted the world’s first patent for a wireless telegraphy system. In 1897 he formed The Wireless Telegraph and Signal Company. During that same year he successfully sent wireless signals a distance of twelve miles.
What is Location Tracking?
What is Location Tracking?
Location tracking is becoming easier to do. Before, investigators had to talk to people to find out where someone was. This took many hours with little chance for success. Today location tracking is much easier with the innovation of GPS products. This new technology has made it much easier to locate the missing.
Using Spy Tools to Detect Infidelity
Spy tools have many uses, many of them exciting, and quite a few of them mundane. But one of the widest uses of spy tools is to detect infidelity in a partner. The reason these are so widespread in investigations into infidelity is because such tools are meant to be used covertly to discover things that people want to keep hidden. And infidelity is one of those things that is meant to be hidden. The great thing about the availability of technology today is that there is no reason to hire a private investigator anymore because you can complete the surveillance yourself with your own spy tools.
Using Spy Gadgets to Keep Tabs on Your Teens
Spy gadgets are useful for more than just performing surveillance on people you do not know, or for protecting yourself from surveillance. Spy gadgets are increasingly helpful in keeping track of where your teenagers are and what they are doing. With all of the risks in the world today, it is no surprise that one might be concerned for the wellbeing of one’s children. With the right spy gadget, or combination of spy gadgets, it is possible to be sure of where your child is, and with whom he or she is keeping company.
Tones For Your Phones
In ancient times, warriors would decorate their weapons with carvings or jewelry because these weapons became an extension of their lives and an expression of who they were. Today, cellphones are integrating themselves more and more into our lives, becoming an invaluable tool to our work and play. So it is only natural that we decorate our cellphone "weapons" as a form of personal expression and individualization.
There are all kinds of fantastic accessories available to take your cellphone to the next level. After all, why would you want to have exactly the same cell phone that everyone else has, when you can make it uniquely yours?
The Usefulness of a GPS Tracker
The GPS tracker is fast becoming a staple in society. This is because there are so many uses for these devices. While GPS technology (short for global positioning system) was originally developed for the military, it is now widely used in things like cars and golf carts — even cell phones. There are even types of GPS tracker that are small enough to be worn on a body or slipped discreetly into a small pocketbook. These handy devices allow people to keep track of others as well as valuables from anywhere where they have Internet access.
The Razr Family is Expanding! Razr V3i, Pink Razr, Blue Razr, Verizon Razor
Motorola Razr for CDMA Users
Motorola is marketing different phones for men and women. Moto’s newest line of pink and blue Razr offspring seems to assume that there are men who will prefer blue and women who will want the pink one. They’re probably right!
The classic Silver Motorola Razr captured the lion’s share of new cell phone buying over the past year or so, causing Motorola to encroach on Nokia’s enviable leading position.
The Powerful Little GPS Tracking Device
GPS is one of the newest crazes on the Market today. GPS or global positioning system tracks your locations from a satellite which makes it a popular feature in cars. When you’re on a trip it can also help you find your way around with out getting lost. While GPS tracking can help track your location it also works in another way. You can use GPS tracking to track some ones location.
The History Of Cellphones; Telefonos Moviles Just Began With Simple Telephones
Here, with the extract of the book THE HISTORY OF THE TELEPHONE by Herbert N. Casson, we show where moviles, cell phones and pdas began. In that somewhat distant year 1875, when the telegraph and the Atlantic cable were the most wonderful things in the world, a tall young professor of elocution was desperately busy in a noisy machine-shop that stood in one of the narrow streets of Boston, not far from Scollay Square. It was a very hot afternoon in June, but the young professor had forgotten the heat and the grime of the workshop. He was wholly absorbed in the making of a nondescript machine, a sort of crude harmonica with a clock-spring reed, a magnet, and a wire. It was a most absurd toy in appearance. It was unlike any other thing that had ever been made in any country. The young professor had been toiling over it for three years and it had constantly baffled him, until, on this hot afternoon in June, 1875, he heard an almost inaudible sound--a faint TWANG--come from the machine itself.
The Growth Of Cellphones
Cellphones are quickly becoming an integral part of our lives. They increase the convenience factor, help us stay organized, and keep us in touch with the people that we love. They can also help us keep informed!
As cellphone technologies increase, cell phone manufacturers are finding new ways to pack great programs into their cellphones. One such program that is being built into cellphones now, and will increase in the future, is the RSS feed capability.
Test Fidelity with a Spy Phone
Are you worried that you partner may be cheating on you? With a spy phone it is fairly easy to find out. In today’s world, nearly everyone has his or her own cell phone. In fact, with family plans and extra phones, there is no need to share a phone. Each person’s phone is sacrosanct. This means that it is easier than ever for significant others to cheat on their partners. No worries about the wrong person answering the phone. With a personal cell phone, you know you are the only person to answer. Plus, partners keep their own phones with them, so there is little chance of someone invading the phone book and seeing suspicious activity. A spy phone, however, will cut right through all this.
Telephone Bugs That Call You
When making use of telephone bugs, it can be very frustrating to be constantly checking, only to find that you missed a call. You have a busy life. Other things to do, other clients to work for, a life to live. You can’t just be sitting there trying to play hit and miss with telephone bugs. This is where the new generation of bugs comes in. It is possible to use a bug that will actually call you when a phone call is made. That way you need not miss a conversation that you cannot afford to miss.
Spy Matrix Spy Phone: The Ultimate Spy Cell Phone
Perhaps the most advanced portable bug on the market today is the Spy Matrix Spy Phone. This spy cell phone looks just like a regular phone, and it works just like a regular cell phone. The only difference is that is also a bug. This is the ultimate in listening devices. It is the best way to keep track of teenagers or significant others who show signs of straying. And, with a little ingenuity, you can even use this spy cell phone to perform surveillance on acquaintances and strangers.
Spy Bugs to Listen In
There are many different spy bugs that can be used to listen in on conversations. These can be bugs that you plant at a home, or listening devices that you wear on your person (or have someone else wear). But no matter how you use spy bugs, it is possible to glean useful information with them, whether you are an amateur, a professional, or are just looking for the truth.
Satellite Phones vs. Cell Phones (Which One is Right for You?)
There are several factors that differentiate satellite phones from cell phones. How they work, their utility and cost just to name a few.
Functionality Differences
Cellular phones or cell phones use small stations or towers known as ‘cells’ from which they receive their signals and to which they send signals. As the user moves from one destination to the next, his call or his cellular service is passed on from cell to the next. The mobile handset is thus in continuous connectivity with the different cells of the network provider and the individual can talk on the move. This is thus known as mobile connectivity.
Satellite Communication Technology Development
Satellites have been orbiting the earth for several decades now, and are constantly contributing to the evolution of global communication.
Satellite cell phones have made it possible for people to make phone calls from anywhere in the world, no matter how remote their location, and have been extremely useful in coordination of many activities ranging from scientific exploration to military operations.
Ringtones: What's the Point?
A quick Google search will produce countless articles trying to understand the popularity of 'ringtones'; hundreds of bloggers waxing lyrical on the benefits of personalising their cell phones. Interviews with “experts” profering sexy theories about ringtones and identity construction lend an academic seriousness to the Crazy Frog phenomena. The figures are pretty serious too, in the U.S.A. alone, the Yankee Group predicts, ringtones will be worth $500 million. That’s roughly the GDP of Fiji.
Obviously our cell phones needs a voice, but does that voice need to be a polyphonic adaptation of 'Living on a Prayer'?
Ringtones Provide Fashion Statement for Women
When it comes to ringtones, the battle of the sexes continues. While ringtones are universally popular with both males and females, females tend to purchase them more, according to a recent study by M:Metrics.
The measurement firm reports that 11.6 million American females downloaded a ringtone in August compared to 9.9 million American males. There’s also a difference in the genre of music that the sexes prefer. Females purchased 66% of the pop ringtones sold and 65% of the country ringtones sold. Not surprisingly, males dominate in the testosterone-laden world of heavy metal and hard rock ringtones where males purchase 68% of such ringtones.
Ringtones, A Phones Personality
As mobile phones define one's personality in the same way ringtone defines mobile phones personality. Ringtone is nothing but the pleasing sound from the mobile instrument indicating an incoming call. It provides a sense of personalization to your mobile phone. Using the same old dull ring tone will never be able to differentiate you in the crowd. But, having a personal ring tone will immediately grab the attention. So ring tones are melodies, tunes, sound, noise your mobile make when an incoming call or message arrives.
Ringtone Market Hits The Jackpot With Teen Cell Phones
The ringtone industry is striking a popular cord with the teenage market. This group, mostly 13 to 24-year-olds, likes to purchase their favorite tune or sound without paying the high price for a CD. This segment isn't afraid to drop lots of discretionary income to download monophonic or polyphonic sounds, which makes the ringtone industry very happy.
Protect Yourself from Cell Phone Bugs
Do you have conversations over the phone that you do not want others to hear? If so, then it may be necessary to protect yourself from cell phone bugs. Cell phone bugs are just as high tech as many other bugs, and can pose even more of a threat, since they are harder to detect. Depending on the bug that is used to listen to your conversation, you might not even realize that someone nearby can hear every word crystal clear.
Even if most of your conversations are of little importance, it is a good idea to make sure that you are well protected against cell phone bugs when you make a vital phone call. It is possible to decrease your chances of being listened to if you follow a few simple steps to avoid eavesdroppers.
Phone Taps That Allow You to Listen to Both Ends of the Conversation
There are some phone taps that are not true taps at all. They are more like bugs that only allow you to listen to one end of the conversation. While one end can be very useful, the fact is that it can also be very incomplete, leaving a lot of things to conjecture. The most effective phone taps allow you to listen to both ends of the conversation so that you can get as much context from the conversation as possible.

Latin Ringtones Mean Dinero for Ringtone Providers
Until recently, when you thought of ringtones, you usually thought of hip-hop ringtones. This is not surprising given the genre’s wide acceptance of ringtones and cell phones and such smash chart crashers as 50-Cent ringtones, Snoop Dogg ringtones, and Lil Kim ringtones.
But ringtone operators are now starting to see the value in Latin ringtones, especially in the urban Hispanic market—one often referred to as “hurban” by marketers. While the market for Latin ringtones is exploding in Mexico, Central America, and South America, major Latin acts have failed to reach the coveted Billboard Ringtone Charts…yet.

I’m Not Lost – My Cell Phone Knows Where I Am
Do you remember the days when a cell phone was just a cell phone? You pulled it out of your pocket to make a call and that was about it. Now your cell phone can take pictures, send text messages, play music, become your personal organizer, play games, and even function as your GPS.
I’m not talking about the GPS chip embedded into all current cell phones. That GPS is only present to help emergency crews locate you in the event of an emergency (the same way that your landline will give away your location). I’m talking about new Smart Phones that actually integrate with new GPS devices, allowing you to receive voice guided driving directions, trip planning, toll road avoidance, on the fly off-course rerouting, and now even real time-traffic information that will allow you to reroute to avoid heavy congestion. And for the cell phone purist, these new phones can even make and receive phone calls!
How To Buy a Mobile Phone Handset
If you asked 100 people the factors that drive their choice of a cell phone, 80% would say the ringtone or the flashy design. Though personal preferences may determine how we buy our mobile phones, it is considered prudential that we factor other elements into our purchase decisions so we derive full value for our money and do not rush into extra expense after using the device.
Buying a simple device like a cell phone can be an overwhelming experience. The device may cost just a few hundred Dollars but there are so many of them on the market and each company is inundating the television and newspaper with so much publicity.
How Does SMS Service Actually Work?
Short message service (SMS) is a wildly popular feature available on most digital mobile phones. SMS allows users to send short messages to other cell phones. These short messages are called text messages. SMS was invented by a Finnish civil servant named Matti Makkonen. Many people understand what SMS is, but few understand how it actually works.
High Tech Spy Surveillance Equipment
For the consummate professional, nothing less than the best spy surveillance equipment is acceptable. The best private investigators and bounty hunters never skimp when it comes to their work, and when one has the best spy surveillance equipment, it will pay for itself in a relatively short period of time. Reputation increases, and you become “the person” to see when some serious surveillance needs to be done.
High tech spy surveillance equipment does not come cheap. It can cost up to $10,000 for a good system (like the PRS 12000) complete with portable DVR, multi-channel capability, and ability to allow you to check in on your cameras from anywhere in the world. There are other systems with various features as well that cost between $3,000 and $6,000, but they lack some of the features that come standard on more advanced models.
GPS Security Functionality
One of the most common uses of Global Positioning System (GPS) technology, by businesses and consumers alike, is to ensure security from theft, as well as human safety.
Using a GPS tracking system ( http://www.gpsdevices.info/gps-tracking-system.php ) is an excellent way for an individual or small business to keep track of important equipment including vehicles, machinery, and portable electronic devices, such as laptops and cell phones.

Cell Phone Bugs
There are a couple of different ways that cell phone bugs can be used. There are fairly inexpensive low-tech cell phone bugs, and there are more expensive and much more rewarding, devices that can be used to hear what you need to hear, but that others might try to keep from you.
The first category of cell phone bugs is not really a cell phone at all. It merely looks like a cell phone. It can receive calls, and it will call you automatically, but this phone is not meant to be carried with you. This bug is meant to be “forgotten” or “charging” at the home or office. It plugs into a splitter that shares a phone jack with a regular phone. When a call is made, you can listen in to both ends of the conversation by use of your bug. The bug will even call you when the subject places a call so that you can listen in.

Cell Phone Antenna May Pose Health Hazards
There is growing consensus that cell phone antennas may be harmful to humans due to the huge volume of electromagnetic waves that get concentrated around it during the receipt and placing of calls. This danger is even further aggravated by cellular manufacturers who place the internal antennas close to the earpiece.
Mobile phones are basically radio sets and therefore emit energy radio signals that can penetrate the body and cause harm.
There have been several commissions on the study of the effect of mobile phone on the human body and the most pronounced has been The Stewart Report which suggested that radio waves indeed penetrate human bodies from mobile phone antennas and specially recommended that children who obviously have softer skulls be extra careful and use the device sparingly. The report further went on to state that the brain cells of children are not as fully developed as those of adults and can therefore be at greater risk as they absorb the radiation more than fully hardened adult skulls.
Cell Phone Accessories - Check Them Out
Accessories such a coat, purse, or shoes can either complete or dress up an outfit. Cell phones have almost as many accessories as Barbie does. Accessories can be practical, ornamental, or just available. In the cell phone world there are practical accessories that help you to operate the phone safely and those that allow you to carry it safely.
Some, like downloadable ring tones, are there for you if you want them. I have put accessories into groups to make them easier to describe. There are operational accessories that include battery chargers. Chargers are phone and model specific so that they are not interchangeable.

It is important to note, however, that there are other ways to avoid phone taps. Most telecommunications companies have had to make it easier for law enforcement to tap phones since 1994 and the passing of the law known as CALEA. Getting VoIP service over the Internet will protect you to a certain extent for the time being, although a recent FCC ruling demands that VoIP provides start building in easier third party access.
